WHY. . . . HOW?

Let me preface this by saying - I am not comfortable with heights! I am very uncomfortable with heights. However, earlier this week I decided I had to get a chunk of tree off my garage roof. It came down during a wind storm earlier this year. Well, I got out my ladder and chain saw to get this chunk off the roof. I looked at the roof from the ground - no problem. It did not look that bad. I get up there and . . . . OMG. I was seriously questioning my sanity. I steeled my nerve, scooted around on my butt, and got the chunk of tree cut up. I removed some of the smaller pieces that day. I now have to go back up and remove the rest of the pieces.

CAMPING TRIP - Part 3

Here are some final pics.

The following pics are of a couple of trees I saw during my hike. The one to the front was probably struck by lightning. It appears the one behind was burned and killed by the fire from the front one. At the top of the taller one are signs of new life. There are two nesting holes (I hope you can see them).

These two show my campsite - before setup and after setup. The angles are a little different but it is the same spot. The canopy to the left of the tent was my "kitchen". The tent was designed to sleep 10 but made for a really nice small "home away from home" while attending the campout.

So this ends my little pictorial about my camping trip.

CAMPING TRIP - Part 2

Signs of a previous inhabitant. The old beaver pond is almost totally overgrown and there were several small trees which had been chewed.

This is the waterfall. From reports on Wednesday it was only a trickle but by the time I went to see it we had had some rain. It had a nice little flow by the time I saw it on Saturday. The first pic is from below and the second is from the bridge above the waterfall.

CAMPING TRIP - Part 1

Back on Aug 9-13 I went on a camping trip with Billy and Marmie. Billy totally enjoyed himself but Marmie did not. She assumed we would be camping in a motor home or camper. She was really miffed when she found out we were camping in a tent. She became a total hermit the whole time we were there. Who knows what will happen on our next camping trip.

As for myself, I also enjoyed the camping trip. I have a few adjustments to make before the next campout but all in all it was a good trip. I did a lot of walking while there. I saw some people I had not seen for a while. I did some visiting. I did some reading (not as much as I thought I would). Finally, I did a little shopping. The only real drawback was a noisy group that was camped just uphill from me.

Following are some pics I took while at the campout. The rock formation is called Castle Mountain.
