She had her first one over a year ago. Looks like an ultrasound is in order to try and figure out what is causing it to happen. So this call to vet resulted in the following expenses: an afterhours trip charge, tranquilizer, rectal exam, and a banamine shot for the ovary. Then as we were wrapping up I discovered a gash on her forehead that was hidden by her forelock. That required a little more tranquilizer, shaving the area, a local, some topical antibiotic, and 8 stitches. Oh yeah, during the initial exam it was discovered she was slightly dehydrated and has some sand in her digestive system. So now, she is on banamine for 3 days (2 days to go), antibiotics for 5 days (4 days to go), a bran mash with psyllium (for sand removal) and electrolytes twice a day (for 3-5 days). She also gets supplemental feed in the mash to entice her to eat it.

How much did all this cost me? My guess is $200-$300 for the vet visit. Oh yeah, I spent $75 at the feed store for supplemental feed, psyllium, and electrolytes (for 2 horses). Let us not forget the $5 for 5# of bulk wheat bran for the mash.

Like I said - Horses ain't cheap!

Update - Called clinic about the cost of the vet visit. They said "$455.50". OMG!! I so hope there is a mistake.

BILLBOARD MESSAGE

So I passed a billboard outside of a church today. I hope to change that lack of posting. I will make no guarantees, only that I will try.

What have I been up to all this time? Just living and trying to get done what needs to be done. I have not always succeeded in the doing department. That is taking some effort to accomplish. I have a new group of friends because I have gotten back to my knitting. I wish I had not let this particular activity languish for as long as it has. I really enjoy it and find it very relaxing. I have not given up my old friends. I have an old friend where we have been trying to get-together at least once a month. I have a few others where I need to reconnect.

Work continues on. It has become a bit hectic in the last six months or so. Before that it was just busy.

The critters are all doing OK. I did have to body clip Ichabod, my llama, a month or so ago. He has all this wool and it was making him too hot. I did some pen rebuilding and need to do a little tweaking. Once that is done I can move Ande back into his pen.

I am in an advanced bell choir group. We have been working on a piece for an August 15 play date. We should have no problem. I am also continuing with my pottery. I really enjoy it and find it to be a Zen type activity. I know my throwing has improved. I do need to push myself a bit more and try to get things done a little faster. That will come.

I believe that is all for now. Hopefully, I will post again soon and not around a year and a half from now. Till later

TWILIGHT TEST

Stolen from PofN, who stole it from Wyntermoon.

Twilight Test from Dumb Spot!

Dumb Quizzes | MySpace Quizzes & Quotes | Make a Quiz

BIRDS AND THANKSGIVING

Yes, I am still around and alive. At least the last time I checked I was alive. I have no excuse for not doing any posts all this time. So on that note here is a new post:

Thanksgiving morning I was outside collecting the food bowls for the outside/feral kitties. I was standing there enjoying the day, when I noticed a small noise. It was a soft "tic, tic". I started looking around trying to figure out what was making the noise. At first, I thought it was a rain drop or two. No, it was not that. Then I noticed the items twirling down from above. What was coming down was this:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 190px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_trKNlZYy4aw/STw6i5SkVCI/AAAAAAAAAFg/w3Pw2QkhJN0/s200/seeds2.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5277157234540041250" />

So I started to look up into the tree that I was under. What I saw was this:

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 112px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_trKNlZYy4aw/STw7N8HdF0I/AAAAAAAAAFw/caJHsNgP5sw/s200/birds4.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5277157974033110850" />

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 136px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_trKNlZYy4aw/STw7HVkCFrI/AAAAAAAAAFo/mxkM70TK6zs/s200/birds1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5277157860604778162" />

At first I thought these little guys were English Sparrows. I was finally able to get a good look at one of them. They were House Finches. They were busy eating the seeds on the tree. What was making the noise were the seeds that were knocked loose or the little wing part that was discarded. It was a delightful part of Thanksgiving morning.

BIRD WATCHING CONTINUES

So not only have I seen white pelicans today but I also saw a turkey vulture. The first time, about a week ago, I happened to see the bird gliding in for a landing. It was an awesome site, this big white bird with a nine-foot wingspan gliding in so elegantly and gracefully for a landing on the water. I missed it landing this time. Both times it has gone about looking for something to eat. Not sure there are any fish in the retention pond but it sure is checking it out. Wish I had a camera so I could get a pic. I will probably need my 35mm. Not sure my digital can get in close enough.

Another poll - religion

You fit in with:
Humanism

0% scientific.
40% reason-oriented.

Your ideals mostly resemble that of a Humanist. I, also, happen to sit close to the windows. I sometimes watch the birds flying around. My favorite bird watching is when the Red-tailed Hawk(s) float by on the air currents around the building. It is such a thrill to be high enough in the building to watch them from their level. The other birds I can watch are the ducks and geese that swim around on the retention pond. I sometimes wish I had binoculars to get a better view of them. Before long my view of the pond will be diminished by the trees with their new leaves. Until then I will enjoy my bird watching.

Which Tarot Card are you

Yes, I know that I have been gone way too long. I hope to correct that error. So, to that end - here is a quiz that I found while looking at a friend's blog (Priestess of Nada).

You are The Lovers

Motive, power, and action, arising from Inspiration and Impulse.

The Lovers represents intuition and inspiration. Very often a choice needs to be made.

Originally, this card was called just LOVE. And that's actually more apt than "Lovers." Love follows in this sequence of growth and maturity. And, coming after the Emperor, who is about control, it is a radical change in perspective. LOVE is a force that makes you choose and decide for reasons you often can't understand; it makes you surrender control to a higher power. And that is what this card is all about. Finding something or someone who is so much a part of yourself, so perfectly attuned to you and you to them, that you cannot, dare not resist. This card indicates that the you have or will come across a person, career, challenge or thing that you will fall in love with. You will know instinctively that you must have this, even if it means diverging from your chosen path. No matter the difficulties, without it you will never be complete.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

WHICH X-MAN?

<img src="http://quizfarm.com/images/1116635367Ult. type='text'>I AM - UPDATE

Apparently, with the delays from the weather, holidays, etc. my tag renewal was "received" Jan. 3. Grrrrrrr!! So it ended up costing me $40+ dollars to renew my tags. The tags are now due for renewal in January of 2008. However, the emissions inspection is still due in November of 2007. I asked if a reminder would be sent out and was told "No, you'll have to remember that the emissions are due then". So, I have to get the emissions done in November and then hang onto the paper until the plates come due in January. Then put the sticky tag from the emissions on the renewal and send it in.

GOD TALK

The guy in the next cubicle is having a discussion about God and trusting Him. He is having the discussion with another one of the guys in the group. The one is a very religious person of a Protestant religion. The other was raised a Mormon but is not practicing and apparently cobbling together his own beliefs. This is not the first discussion of this nature and probably not the last. I am just trying to figure out why they have to have it there. I wish they would go somewhere else to have their discussion. I have nothing against their discussing religion and beliefs if they want - just go somewhere else to do it.

I AM

ticked!!!!!! My plates on my van ran out in November. I spaced the card, found it in December, made out a check, and sent it in. I sent it in two days before the first blizzard. I have seen or heard nothing about the tag for the plates since. I called today. I found out the renewal was sent back to me yesterday because it was past the expiration date. I thought you had a 30 day grace period to get the tags renewed and on the vehicle. Now instead of $29 to renew, it will cost me $40+. Once I get it back I will be taking time off work to go to the DMV and get this taken care of. Why in the world did it take this long? Was it because of weather? I live in Denver and as most have heard we had a blizzard. Yesterday evening I lost one of my feral kittens. She was the smallest in the litter. For what ever reason she was not with the others. I found her in the snow last night, barely alive. I picked her up and took into the house and tried to warm her up. She died while I was trying to warm her. She was about 14 weeks old. I was greatly saddened by what happened and yes, I cried for her. I have not seen her mother or siblings since Tuesday evening and hope all is well with them.

WHY. . . . HOW?

Let me preface this by saying - I am not comfortable with heights! I am very uncomfortable with heights. However, earlier this week I decided I had to get a chunk of tree off my garage roof. It came down during a wind storm earlier this year. Well, I got out my ladder and chain saw to get this chunk off the roof. I looked at the roof from the ground - no problem. It did not look that bad. I get up there and . . . . OMG. I was seriously questioning my sanity. I steeled my nerve, scooted around on my butt, and got the chunk of tree cut up. I removed some of the smaller pieces that day. I now have to go back up and remove the rest of the pieces.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://dendragonhorse.blogspot.com/2006/09/why-how.html' title='WHY. . . . The one to the front was probably struck by lightning. It appears the one behind was burned and killed by the fire from the front one. At the top of the taller one are signs of new life. There are two nesting holes (I hope you can see them).

These two show my campsite - before setup and after setup. The angles are a little different but it is the same spot. The canopy to the left of the tent was my "kitchen". The tent was designed to sleep 10 but made for a really nice small "home away from home" while attending the campout.

So this ends my little pictorial about my camping trip.

CAMPING TRIP - Part 2

More pics

Signs of a previous inhabitant. Billy totally enjoyed himself but Marmie did not. She assumed we would be camping in a motor home or camper. She was really miffed when she found out we were camping in a tent. She became a total hermit the whole time we were there. Who knows what will happen on our next camping trip.

As for myself, I also enjoyed the camping trip. I have a few adjustments to make before the next campout but all in all it was a good trip. I did a lot of walking while there. I saw some people I had not seen for a while. I did some visiting. I did some reading (not as much as I thought I would). Finally, I did a little shopping. The only real drawback was a noisy group that was camped just uphill from me.

Following are some pics I took while at the campout. The rock formation is called Castle Mountain.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; As I was sitting in my van taking care of one final item, I heard a sort of meow. I looked around to find the source of the sound and saw sitting by my garage a yellow ball of fluff (a kitten). When I walked over she just sat there and looked. I picked her up and found that she was skin and bones. She also had very pretty blue eyes. I got back into my van with her and headed back to PetSmart to get kitten food (I have adult cats). I asked for help from one of the employees. She asked what I was going to do with her. I told her I was going to get the little one some kitten food and would be taking her to Cat Care Society in the morning. The employee's reply - "I'll take her". I asked if she was sure. She said "Yes, I have two cats and she will have company". After asking a couple of more times to be sure, I left the kitten in the employee's care. I went back on Thursday after work to find out how the little one was doing. I was so happy to be told that she was doing just fine. She also will allow herself to be held on her back and have her tummy rubbed. She goes to sleep. I will have to check back at least one more time to find out what the little one has been named.

TIME OUT

I am looking forward to this outing. It will be an opportunity to get away from Denver for a few days. I am hoping for a recharge of the "batteries" and a chance to get some reading done. The house kitties are at a boarding facility. The outside kitties will be set up with feeders and plenty of water. Everything is pretty much loaded and ready to go. A couple of last minute things to do and then I will "head for the hills" tomorrow morning.

WHAT CLASSIC MOVIE ARE YOU?

Borrowed from Girlzoot by way of PoN

This is my result based on 27 questions:

What Classic Movie Are You?
personality tests by similarminds.com

This is my result based on 45 questions:

What Classic Movie Are You?
personality tests by similarminds.com

HHHMMMM. The day after that post the storage shed I ordered was to have been delivered to Home Depot. It finally arrived the evening of June 27. After renting a truck at Home Depot the next day I got it home and started to put it together. I got that all accomplished by July 5. That weekend I was going to unload the old Ford van. It rained all weekend. That task was delayed until Monday and finished by Wednesday. On Thursday the Ford was removed from the driveway. The inspector was to come by my house on July 17. She came by and called me to let me know that some old wood, the aluminum cans and plastic bottles needed to be dealt with. She then asked when that would be done. I told her by the end of the week. She said she would be back July 24. That Sunday, July 23, I worked all day to get the final cleanup done. On July 26 I found out my case with the Zoning Department was closed on July 25. I am now free of the City and County of Denver and I have my life back. A run down:

On June 2 I found two "Notice of Violation" taped to front door. A complaint had been made concerning my property. I had piles of branches from trimming trees, sumacs, etc. I admit that I procrastinated about taking care of them. Now have to do something about them. The other violation was for the old Ford van I was using for storage. It has to go as it is an inoperable vehicle. So far the branches and some other yard waste have been taken care of. Rented an 8 yard container for this. It was delivered June 13 and removed yesterday. I did not realize just how many branches and yard waste I had. It was almost filled to capacity. There is still some final work to be done but the worst of it is gone.

On June 5 I returned home late only to find out that I had two bikes and a lawn mower stolen. They were under a tarp and tied to the front of the old van with a locking bicycle cable. The cable had been cut and the bikes and lawnmower stolen. Filed a police report that night. Thought they had also stolen my chain saw but it was later found in the old van under some stuff (not out in plain sight like I thought it had been). Made a lot of phone calls concerning the theft, cost of replacement, insurance claim (not pursued as losses were $600 and deductible was $500), etc. I have since replaced the lawn mower (with help from my Credit Union). I now have two chain saws. That is OK as one has a 16" blade and the other has an 18" blade. The 18" blade also has a bigger motor. The bike will be replaced later.

The Beast (Astro van) went in to the shop for a repair/replacement to the power steering system. My mechanic thought it would cost $550-$575. He called me a couple of days before it went in to let me know it would cost $700+ because the replacement part had gone up in cost. It is now fixed and not leaving spots (it was leaking). There is one other fix that needs to be done but it can wait for a bit. I was going up to the Wool Market in Estes Park on Sunday but did not make it. My check engine light came on so I turned around at 6th and West Colfax and returned home. Went to mechanic Monday and found that it was the EGR valve that was acting up.

Ichabod is now sheared because on June 8 he almost went into heat stress. He is a woolly llama (think sheep only a lot bigger) and is a gorgeous chocolate brown color. A call to the vet helped get him cooled down and back on his feet. Had the vet come out to check him over to make sure there were no adverse effects. He was fine. It took me 6 sessions to get him sheared. Trying to do it in one session would have probably been too stressful. I also did this by hand, no mechanical means used. The fleece/wool is to be given to about 4 different people who have spoken up for it. He looks like a different llama without all that fleece/wool.

I am now waiting for the storage shed I ordered from Home Depot to come in. It should be here some time this week (fingers crossed). I had to get a permit from the City and County of Denver for the storage shed. To get the permit I needed to know the cost of the storage shed so they would know how much the permit would cost. Sounds a little like a "Catch 22" situation. I have the permit so all is ready to go once I get the shed.

Today I "collapsed". Not only did I have a minor crappy sinus headache in the morning but the body insisted on more sleep and rest. My crazy schedule in dealing with the code violations, other stuff, and my work and regular schedule had me really run down. After taking two sinus tablets and going back to bed I finally got out of bed around 11:15 this morning. I am now somewhat ready to go back at it so I can get the City and County off my back.

I think that basically takes care of my month so far. I hope the rest of it a little more sane.

ICHABOD HAS BEEN SHORN

I finally got Ichabod finished last night. I have been attempting to tame her. I have not pushed the issue but have let her make the first moves. We have gone from cowering, growling and hissing in the corner to letting me actually scratch/rub her head. This happened Saturday evening. I was so surprised by this development that I almost let out a squeal of joy but managed to contain it. I did not want to scare her. I have been able to scratch/rub her head again yesterday and today. I have let her approach me each time. I thought this was never going to happen. Hoping for more progress on this "front".

WHAT DECADE

Thank you so much Wendy :( This so dates me.

what decade does your personality live in?

quiz brought to you by lady interference, ltd

A LITTLE OASIS

This is a little oasis that I created for myself. I am hoping to use this during the summer. I enjoy being outside but do not like the pesky little flyums that come around. So with a few purchases from Wal-Mart I created a little oasis. I used it last night when I got home from the barn. I just wanted to sit for a while and enjoy the evening. It was great. I hope I can use it a lot this summer.

SPIREA

This is the little spirea bush that is in my yard. When the house was bought (1977) it was a sorry and pathetic looking bush. It had a lot of dead stuff in it and had not been trimmed in who knows how long. One year I had looked at it long enough so that fall I cut it all the way back. The next year it came back with all new growth and looked so good. I have cut it back from time to time since then. Last year it had hardly any bloom but this year it is just full of bloom. Once the bloom is gone I will need to trim it but for now I am just enjoying the profusion of bloom.

PERSONALITY TEST

I found this on LadyDragonFly's page. You are characterized by your rationality. In fact, this is really ALL you are characterized by. Like a cold, heartless machine, you are so logical and unemotional that you scarcely seem human. For instance, you are very humble and don't bother thinking of your own interests, you are very gentle and lack emotion, and you are also very introverted and introspective. You may have noticed that these traits are just as applicable to your laptop as they are to a human being. You are not like the robots they show in the movies. Movie robots are make-believe, because they always get all personable and likeable after being struck by lightning, or they are cold, cruel killing machines. In all reality, though, you are much more boring than all that. Real robots just sit there, doing their stupid jobs, and doing little else. If you get struck by lightning, you won't develop a winning personality and heart of gold. (Robots don't have hearts, silly, and if they did, they would probably be made of steel, not gold.) You also won't be likely to terrorize humanity by becoming an ultra-violent killing machine sent into the past to kill the mother of a child who will lead a rebellion against machines, because that movie was dumb as hell, and because real robots don't kill--they horribly maim at best, and they don't even do that on purpose. Real robots are boringly kind and all too rarely try to kill people. In all my years, my laptop has only attacked me once, and that was only because my brother threw it at me. In short, your personality defect is that you don't really HAVE a personality. You are one of those annoying, super-logical people that never gets upset or flustered. Unless, of course, you short circuit. Or if someone throws a pie at you. Pies sure are delicious.

To put it less negatively:

1. You are more RATIONAL than intuitive.

2. You are more INTROVERTED than extroverted.

3. You are more GENTLE than brutal.

4. You are more HUMBLE than arrogant.

Compatibility:

Your exact opposite is the Class Clown.

Other personalities you would probably get along with are the Hand-Raiser, the Emo Kid, and the Haughty Intellectual.

Link: The Personality Defect Test written by saint_gasoline on OkCupid Free Online Dating, home of the 32-Type Dating Test

THE NEIGHBOR DID IT AGAIN

Well, the neighbor gave the boyfriend the boot about a week ago. She now has another boyfriend. Last Saturday around midnight she and bf got into a fight (yelling, cussing). Not only were they fighting but her girlfriend was having a fight with her boyfriend at the same time. I had just gone to bed. I did end up calling the cops when the yelling and cussing was joined by screaming. I don't think it got physical but I had had enough. By the time everything settled and calmed down I was finally able to get to sleep - around 2:30/3am Sunday morning. Totally screwed up my Sunday. It has been relatively quiet next door since then. I really need to get my bedroom moved to the other side of the house.

ICHABOD PICS

Here are some recent pics of Ichabod. I had some start a nest on the door frame between the screen door (which needs to be replaced) and the door to the utility room. They are no longer there or alive for that matter. I found my wasp and hornet spray and took care of them along with 2 or 3 other new nests that I found. The overhangs on my house are open and evidently inviting. Almost all of the nests have been on the south side of the house. Well, I guess until this fall there will be a minor battle going on at my house - me against the wasps.

NEIGHBORS!!

I live in an older part of Denver. The houses can be close to one another. It has not been a problem. However, recently it has been becoming a problem. My neighbor's back door is almost directly across from my bedroom window. I have been opening my bedroom window recently to let in the cooler night air. Last night the neighbor's back door was open. Her phone has a high-pitched chirpy ring. The phone is located close to the back door. They (neighbor and live-in boyfriend) received 2 or 3 calls last night around midnight. Disrupted sleep! Not only that but sometimes they have friends over. Entry and exit is made through the back door. The door is hardly ever closed quietly. Disrupted sleep! Nor does the company always arrive quietly. Disrupted sleep! My solution to this problem, outside of killing the neighbors? Eventually to move my bedroom back to where it had been originally. This will put me on the other side of the house away from the neighbors back door. Now all I have to do is use some of my "copious" free time to accomplish this task.

DOMINANT INTELLIGENCE

Your Dominant Intelligence is Spatial Intelligence

You've got a good sense of space and how the world around you looks.
You can close your eyes and "see" images. It was after I buried a kitten who was only a few days old. Mom had two in my backyard a few days ago. For some reason this one did not survive. I knew last night when I briefly held this little one that it would be gone by this morning. It was. Its' little body was cold last night and it was barely alive. I moved it closer to its' sibling hoping that it would help and that it would make it. Unfortunately, it did not. So after I buried this little one I went back in the house and cried. I cuddled a few of my indoor feline "pride" for comfort. It helped some but I still get teary when I think about the little one from this morning. I hate it when something like this happens. It seems so unfair.

THE BEAST

The Beast, my name for my van, has a leak in the power steering system. This means that periodically I have to add power steering fluid to the reservoir. Well, last night on the way home it started whining, which means it needed more fluid. I pulled over into a wide-open parking lot at a Catholic church to take care of the problem. I left the van running and added some fluid. I started to check the level in the reservoir and dropped the dip stick. It fell into the engine compartment. Luckily it did not get into the serpentine belt and pulleys but it also did not fall through onto the ground. After shutting off the engine I started looking around with a light to find it. I found it down towards the bottom of the engine compartment. It was too far away to reach, so I was going to have to crawl under the van to retrieve it. I trained the light on the area where it was so I would know where to "look". I crawled under, avoiding all the hot engine parts, and started feeling around for it. Could not find it. Crawled out from under the van. Checked on the location, found some "landmarks" and crawled under again. I found it using the landmarks. I finished filling the reservoir without dropping the dip stick again. The shirt I was wearing is now in the laundry. Luckily, it is only dirt from the parking lot that is on the back of it and no oil. I really need to get the leak fixed so I don't have to worry about low fluid levels in the power steering. I will, I just have to figure out when.

READY TO SCREAM - PART 2

Oh nuts. They can be so dumb and aggravating!! I ask a question about something and I get a mini desertation. Just give me an answer for crying out loud. No, I do not want to do this-and-that with so-and-so. The reason being is because so-and-so is driving me up the wall. Why - because they always have to make some kind of comment and it is usually not needed. I don't need to be told what happened yesterday, last night, this morning, etc. It seems I need to be informed about everything they do. I think I "need to get out of Dodge". Either that or start doing other things in place of what I am doing now. At least that way I could avoid certain people. I seem to be having the same problem at the stable also. About the only place this is not happening is at work. I certainly don't want to spend 24/7 there. Oh yeah, at least the home front is quiet. Just the occasional meow, rub, pet me. Prying self away from game, blog and getting back to work

Quiz results

This is my result for the quiz on "What spirituality is for you?"

What spirituality is for you?
Wiccan
You should explore Wicca. One of the adult females was returned because she missed her human momma. She was replaced with a juvenile male. Well, the family the 4 llamas were given to are more interested in interacting with the adult female (Penny) and the 2 juveniles (Nike and Acorn). Ichabod was basically being ignored. Cindy was thinking about selling him. At the suggestion of her kids she asked me first if I would be interested in taking Ichabod. I decided to take him. Now he is mine. I must be earning his respect because it has been getting easier for me to get ahold of him.

IT'S HERE!!!!

I have my new computer. I woke up this morning with mine in a slight uproar. This time I was able to beat the sinus headache into submission with the help of Benedryl and Sudafed. And yes it usually takes both of these to deal with the headache. At least this time I did not wake up with a headache so bad that I was almost sick to my stomach and a head that felt like it was going to explode when I bent over. When I have the previous mentioned headache the Benedryl and Sudafed only manage to take the edge off. Those are the times when I take the meds, go back to bed, and tell the world to f--k off. The cause of this last headache was possibly a little too much hay dust (I have allergies) last night. The hay dust is part of the package when you have horses. OK, enough of this because just thinking about it is causing my head to ache a little more than it was.

How did he?

I have been trying to figure out how Ande (equine) was able to get a metal-handled push broom from its storage spot and into his stall and run. He did this last Wednesday/Thursday. The head is still good but the handle is just trashed (I need to get a picture of it). It was found in the middle of his run on Thursday. One of the other boarders removed it so he would not hurt himself. The handle had already been trashed by then. We have some demolition/construction going on in the wing of the building I work in. Well last Friday (Feb.17) they were demoing a wall. Just to be sure that we did not forget and try to walk thru they secured the doors to the area with some wire. Don't know just how tightly secured the wire was but damn it that is against Fire Safety standards. Plus I think OSHA might have something to say about it too. They basically made one of our points of egress (exit) unavailable in case of emergency. I had a little talk with one of the Facility people and it was removed. Then on Wednesday I went to the ladies room, which is on the other side of the building. The construction guys were getting ready to leave. Did not think anything about until I came back and could not get in the exterior door to the wing. It was LOCKED! Had to go downstairs, thru another groups office and up the stairs to get to my office. Told my supervisor. Tried my key which was supposed to work and did not. While I was doing that the door I had exited closed and locked. Had to go downstairs, . . . . . . Told the super that key did not work. He gave two others that might work. They did not. Found a doorstop and propped door open so no one else could get locked out. Super was to talk to Facilities about door. Must have because I think it has been left propped open since Wednesday eve. I was just a little hot under the collar about the whole thing. Found myself asking "Where are these guy's brains? There are people working here and we get locked out if we go thru the door!!" I will be so glad when the construction/remodeling is done and they are gone.

Soooo Cold

Friday (Feb 17) was sooooo cold. I was outside for around 3 hours Friday night. No, I am not crazy. I was responsible for feeding some horses, 4 llamas, and 2 goats. They needed water and food and I was dressed for the occasion. I have been at this feeding of outside animals long enough to know how to dress so that I do not become a "popsicle". It has been so much nicer recently with the weather warming up and the sun out. I do hope the really cold weather is a thing of the past for this winter.
